Lucknow Gets Major Development Boost 

Lucknow: Lucknow witnessed a major infrastructure boost on Friday with the inauguration of two flyovers at Phone Lane. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in the event, where 114 development projects worth ₹588 crore were either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid.

During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath praised both Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, highlighting their contributions to development projects. He also emphasized the success of the ongoing Maha Kumbh, stating that within a month, over 50 crore devotees have taken a dip, showcasing the essence of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” He remarked that the new Uttar Pradesh is setting an example of progress through infrastructure development and religious gatherings like the Maha Kumbh.

Metro Expansion on the Horizon

Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh announced another major development for the city. He stated that approval for an 11-km-long metro rail project from Charbagh to Basant Kunj is expected soon, which will significantly ease traffic congestion in the city.

Key Foundation Stones Laid

Several major projects were launched or had their foundation stones laid, including:

  • Kabir Nagar Devpur Para Residential Scheme – Construction of 1,032 EWS (Economically Weaker Section) houses and road infrastructure.
  • Four-lane Bridge on Gomti River – Connecting Kukrel River to Baikunth Dham.
  • Green Park Road Extension – Linking Shaheed Path to Kisan Path along the LS embankment of Gomti River.
  • Flood Pumping Station at Basant Kunj Residential Scheme – 400 KL capacity flood pumping station near Barikala Barrel.
  • Four-lane Roads on Gomti River Bridges and Dams.
  • Road Expansion Projects:
    • 17-km Mal-Dubagga road development.
    • Widening of the 20-29 km stretch between Nagaram and Nigohan.

Major Completed Projects

Infrastructure projects worth ₹1,028 crore were inaugurated, including two crucial flyovers costing ₹440 crore:

  • Munshipulia Flyover: A 2-km-long flyover connecting Polytechnic to Munshipulia, built at a cost of ₹170 crore, expected to provide relief to over 1.25 lakh commuters daily.
  • Khurramnagar Flyover: A 3-km-long flyover extending from Khurramnagar to Kalyanpur, constructed at a cost of ₹270 crore, aimed at benefiting over 2 lakh commuters.

These initiatives are set to enhance connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and drive Lucknow’s rapid urban transformation. The projects mark another milestone in the city’s journey toward becoming a modern metropolitan hub.
