Gonda: A screening camp was organised at BRC Pandri Kripal in Gonda under the Inclusive Education Programme of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to assess children with disabilities studying in government schools and identify assistive devices required to support their education and mobility.
The camp was organised under the leadership of District Basic Education Officer Amit Kumar Singh, with the support of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur. It was organised by Block Education Officer Anjani Kumar Singh to help children aged 6 to 14 overcome difficulties related to attending school and participating in classroom learning.
District Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Rajesh Kumar Singh said around 204 children from Pandri Kripal, Itiyathok, Jhanjhari and Mujehna development blocks participated in the assessment. ALIMCO specialists, including prosthetist and orthotist Amar Bahadur and Abdul Rahman, audiologist Harendra Kumar Singh, data operator Harshit Tiwari and technician Gaurav Tiwari, examined the children. Dr Sandhya Singh from the Community Health Centre was also present.
Based on individual requirements, children were recommended assistive devices including tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, calipers, hearing aids, CP chairs, TLM kits and Braille kits for visually impaired children.
Beneficiaries were provided receipts based on the recommendations. A distribution camp will be held on November 27, 2026, when the approved assistive devices will be distributed free of cost.
Special educators and BRC staff also contributed to the successful organisation of the camp.
