Nanded: A special Mother’s Day celebration turned into a memorable moment for veteran educator Shomita Choudhury, who was recently honoured in Maharashtra in recognition of her contributions as a teacher and mentor.
Born and brought up in Lucknow, Shomita Choudhury has devoted more than three decades to the field of education. She served as a teacher for 22 years before taking on leadership roles in prominent educational institutions. She worked as the first principal of St. Columbus School on IIM Road and later at Lucknow Model Public School, Sector-11, Takrohi Road, Indira Nagar, Lucknow, gaining nearly 14 years of administrative and academic experience as a school principal.
In Nanded, Maharashtra, she was felicitated on the occasion of Mother’s Day by her orthopedic surgeon from Venkateshwar Hospital. Expressing gratitude for the gesture, Shomita Choudhury said she was deeply touched by the honour and conveyed heartfelt wishes to the doctor and his family.

Her son, Engineer Shivanjan Choudhury, is currently serving as Chief Manager at Union Bank of India in Nanded, Maharashtra now heading to Indore to take on a new leadership role. Her late husband Sanat Choudhury was a highly regarded senior professional in the service sector known for his integrity.
The recognition highlighted not only the enduring respect for educators but also the emotional bond shared between doctors, patients, and families beyond professional relationships.
