Lucknow: The Institution of Engineers (India), Uttar Pradesh State Centre, Lucknow, organized a special lecture programme on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day at its premises in River Bank Colony.
The event was held under this year’s global theme, “Digital Lifelines: Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World,” focusing on the growing importance of digital connectivity and resilient communication infrastructure in modern society.
The keynote address was delivered by Mayur Srivastava, Assistant Professor at BBD Northern India Institute of Technology. Speaking on the significance of digital ecosystems, he said digital networks have become essential lifelines for sectors such as education, healthcare, governance and industry.
He emphasized that the role of communication technology becomes even more crucial during emergencies, disasters and crises, where uninterrupted connectivity can significantly improve response mechanisms and public coordination.
Highlighting the importance of cybersecurity and advanced digital infrastructure, he said emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, smart networking and next-generation digital systems would play a transformative role in global technological growth and social empowerment in the coming years.
The programme was chaired by Bharat Raj Singh, former Chairman of the IEI Uttar Pradesh State Centre. In his presidential address, he stressed the importance of safe and effective use of digital technologies, describing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a powerful tool capable of giving new direction to society and national development.

Welcoming the guests and participants, he said the institution would continue to organize such technical and knowledge-oriented programmes in the future to promote awareness and innovation in engineering and communication technologies.
During the event, Honorary Secretary and Convener Narendra Kumar Nishad introduced the keynote speaker and shared details about his academic and professional contributions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended to engineers, academicians, students and guests who attended the event.
Several distinguished engineers and members of the institution were present on the occasion, including G.P. Singh, R.K. Gupta, S.K. Agarwal, O.P. Srivastava, along with faculty members, experts and office bearers from various institutions.
