Indian Navy Day: PM Modi Dedicates Three Powerful Vessels to the Nation

New Delhi: On the occasion of Indian Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated two warships and a submarine to the nation at Mumbai’s naval dockyard. The ships, INS Surat and INS Nilgiri, along with the submarine INS Vagsheer, are set to enhance India’s maritime security and defense manufacturing capabilities. The induction of these formidable assets into the Indian Navy is expected to send ripples of concern among adversary nations.

INS Surat: A Nightmare for Enemies

The INS Surat, the fourth and final ship of the P15B guided missile destroyer project, is one of the largest and most advanced destroyers in the world. With 75% indigenous material, it boasts cutting-edge weapons-sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities. Its ability to carry out precise attacks on enemies makes it a formidable asset in India’s naval fleet.

INS Nilgiri: Stealthy Power Against Enemies

The first ship of the P17A stealth frigate project, INS Nilgiri, was designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau. With enhanced survivability, maritime capability, and stealth features, it represents the next generation of indigenous frigates. Designed for defending maritime borders and retaliating against adversaries, INS Nilgiri is equipped to evade enemy radar detection, making it a significant threat to any enemy forces in the region.

INS Vagsheer: A Silent Killer Beneath the Waves

The INS Vagsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene project, symbolizes India’s growing expertise in naval construction. Built with collaboration from France’s Naval Group, it is designed to safeguard India’s maritime interests and will soon be deployed in the Indian Ocean. The 67-meter long, 1,550-ton submarine operates silently, making it virtually undetectable by enemy forces. With wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship missiles, and high-tech sonar systems, the Vagsheer is equipped to stealthily infiltrate enemy territories and destroy targets.

Expected to remain submerged for 45 to 50 days, this submarine is poised to deter any hostile intent and maintain India’s strategic dominance in the waters.

India’s Navy now boasts three new “mighty warriors” that will fortify its defense capabilities and act as a deterrent against foreign threats.
