Addressing the 14th India-France CEO Forum in Paris, Modi highlighted India’s robust business-friendly environment and policy continuity, positioning the nation as a key global economic hub.

On the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris, Google CEO Sundar Pichai met with PM Modi and discussed the vast opportunities that artificial intelligence (AI) presents for India. Pichai underscored India’s ability to harness AI for digital transformation, employment generation, and economic expansion.

UK and US Decline to Sign Global AI Agreement

Meanwhile, the UK and the US have opted out of signing an international agreement on AI governance at the Global AI Summit. The statement, endorsed by countries such as France, China, and India, promotes an open, inclusive, and ethical approach to AI development. The UK government cited national security concerns as the primary reason for not joining the agreement.

US Vice President Warns Against Over-Regulating AI

At the same summit, US Vice President J.D. Vance cautioned against excessive AI regulations, arguing that stringent policies could stifle innovation just as the industry is taking off. “History has shown that work does not disappear due to technology; its nature changes, and new job opportunities emerge,” Vance stated.

India’s National AI Mission and Digital Infrastructure

PM Modi also reiterated India’s commitment to AI-driven innovation, stating that India has successfully built digital public infrastructure for 1.4 billion people at a minimal cost. He emphasized India’s efforts in democratizing digital commerce and revealed that the country is working on developing its own large language model to cater to its diverse linguistic landscape.

Following his engagements in France, PM Modi will travel to the United States on Wednesday for high-level meetings with US President Donald Trump.
