Hapur Police Recover Rs.50,000 for Fraud Victim

(Hapur): The Hapur police have successfully returned Rs.50,000 that was withdrawn from a victim’s account. The cyber cell team acted swiftly to provide relief to the victim. After the individual reported being a victim of fraud, the police took immediate action and recovered his money.

Precautions to Avoid Cyber Fraud

Cyber criminals are constantly finding new ways to deceive people. A resident of a village in the Hapur district’s Dehat police station area reported being a victim of cyber crime. Following this, the cyber cell took prompt action and managed to return the victim’s Rs.50,000.

Money Stolen via a Link

Insaf, a resident of Salai village, reported receiving a phone call from the accused, who ensnared him in their trap by sending a link. As soon as Insaf clicked on the link, the cyber criminal withdrew money from his account. Upon realising the fraud, the victim immediately filed a complaint with the cyber cell.

Cyber Cell’s Swift Action

According to Suresh Kumar, the station in-charge of Hapur Dehat, Sub-Inspector Sachin Kumar from the cyber cell promptly investigated the case and successfully recovered the victim’s Rs.50,000. The victim expressed his gratitude to the police upon receiving his money back.

Tips to Avoid Cyber Fraud

  • Do not share personal information on unknown calls: Never provide personal details such as your home address, bank account information, Aadhar card, or PAN card to unknown numbers.
  • Use strong passwords: Maintain strong passwords for all your accounts and transactions.
  • Verify the identity: Confirm the identity of the caller before sharing any information.
  • Hang up on suspicious calls: If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and block the number.
  • Report cyber crimes: If you fall victim to cyber fraud, report it immediately to the nearest cyber police station or call the cyber crime helpline number 1930.

54,000 Rupee Fraud in Kumbh Mela Hotel Booking

In another incident, Ram Kumar Sharma, a resident of Sector 48 in Noida’s Sector 49, was defrauded of Rs.54,000 by cyber criminals under the pretext of hotel booking during the Kumbh Mela. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Sharma stated that he contacted a hotel for booking through Google, during which an unknown person deceived him.
