Gonda: A mental health awareness seminar was organised by the Department of Psychology at Saraswati Devi Nari Gyanasthali PG College, Gonda, on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. Dr Seema, Dr Sadhana, Dr Vimla, Kanchan and Dr Ashu Tripathi from the Education Department attended the programme.
The speakers sensitised students to mental stress, depression and warning signs associated with suicidal thoughts. They urged students not to face emotional or psychological difficulties alone and encouraged them to openly discuss their concerns with family members, teachers or counsellors.

During the seminar, students were also informed about mental health helpline services. An interactive session based on different real-life situations was organised, allowing students to raise questions and share their views.

The organisers stressed that timely communication and support can help restore hope during difficult periods. Students were encouraged to seek professional assistance whenever required and were assured that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but an indication of courage and awareness.
Individual and confidential counselling was also made available to students according to their needs. The programme highlighted the importance of early intervention, open communication and a supportive environment in promoting mental well-being.
