Bareilly: Bareilly District Magistrate Avinash Singh reviewed projects being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission at a meeting held in the Collectorate auditorium, directing officials to expedite construction, strengthen security at project sites and ensure a regular supply of safe drinking water in rural areas.
During the meeting, the Executive Engineer of the Jal Jeevan Mission reported incidents of theft involving solar panels and copper cables connecting the panels. Taking note of the issue, the District Magistrate directed officials to identify areas experiencing repeated thefts and install night-vision CCTV cameras at vulnerable locations. He also ordered police verification of security guards and periodic surprise inspections. Wherever possible, village watchmen should be assigned security responsibilities to help prevent thefts.

Singh instructed officials to inspect sites where water tank construction was nearing completion and ensure that all remaining works were finished before Diwali. He warned that negligence in implementing Jal Jeevan Mission projects would not be tolerated.
Reviewing complaints received through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal, he directed officials to speak to complainants before disposing of their grievances to understand the actual problems and ensure satisfactory resolution.
The District Magistrate further ordered immediate repairs to motors, pumping sets and cables whenever faults disrupted water supply. To maintain drinking water quality, officials were instructed to collect water samples once a week and ensure that construction work met prescribed quality standards. He also called for wider publicity of the mission so that more rural residents could benefit from the schemes.

Expressing displeasure over incomplete road restoration following pipeline installation, Singh directed the concerned officials to ensure that damaged roads were promptly repaired and restored to their original condition to prevent inconvenience to commuters.
Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam (Rural) Akanksha Singh, representatives of the agencies concerned and other officials attended the meeting.
