Emotional Bond Between Teachers and Students Essential for Holistic Development: Jitendra Singh

Gonda: Stressing the importance of emotional connection in education, Professor Jitendra Singh said that establishing a strong emotional bond between teachers and students is essential for the holistic development of young learners.

He was addressing students during a Mentor-Mentee Programme organised by the Department of Botany at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College for students studying in the B.Sc. second semester.

Providing details about the programme, Rekha Sharma said that in today’s technology-driven world, the younger generation has become excessively dependent on electronic gadgets and social media platforms. She noted that this growing dependence is adversely affecting physical and mental health while also reducing emotional sensitivity and human values among students.

She further said that in such circumstances, the role and responsibility of mentors has increased significantly, especially in helping students develop their personalities and acquire essential life skills alongside higher education.

According to Rekha Sharma, nearly 95 percent of the students participated in the programme and openly shared various academic, personal and social concerns with faculty members.

During the interactive session, faculty members including Sanjay Kumar, Priyanka Srivastava, Krishna Mohan Tripathi, Drinkal Yadav and Amit Dubey guided the students and addressed the issues and concerns raised by them.

The programme focused on strengthening communication between teachers and students while promoting mentorship-based learning, emotional support and personality development within the academic environment.
