Lucknow: The Election Commission (EC) will start a new exercise for voter awareness to increase the low percentage of voting in the first two phases of the Lok Sabha elections.
To ensure maximum voting, the Commission’s call team will go door-to-door to motivate voters to increase voter awareness. On Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa gave instructions to all the District Election Officers for this.
This team will include employees like Asha, Anganwadi workers, ANM, Rozgar Sevak, Shiksha Mitra. It is worth noting that in the first two phases in the state, about 5% less voting has taken place as compared to 2019. There are still five phases of voting left in UP.
To increase voter awareness, the Commission will also take the help of various non-political and social organizations like businessmen, doctors, lawyers, chemist associations, industrial organizations, RWA, Rotary Club, Lions Club, NYK. The CEO has instructed all the District Election Officers to hold meetings with various non-political and social organizations and take their active cooperation.
On the day of voting, police and security personnel should be trained to behave politely and cooperatively with voters. The CEO has also given instructions for better arrangements at the polling centres.
