Mumbai: Indian-American singer Chandrika Tandon clinched the Grammy Award for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album for her album Triveni at the 67th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Tandon outpaced strong contenders like Anoushka Shankar (Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn), Ricky Kej (Break of Dawn), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Opus), and Radhika Vekaria (Warriors of Light).
Collaborating with Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto and South African flautist Wouter Kellerman, Triveni is a captivating fusion of flute, cello, and ancient chants, showcasing music as a universal language that transcends borders.
The Consulate General of India in New York congratulated Tandon, sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, via X (formerly Twitter), praising her blend of artistry and purpose.
The ceremony also featured notable moments, including Will Smith’s return to a broadcast awards show, honoring Quincy Jones, and the headline-making police escort of Kanye West and Bianca Censori.
