Mumbai: Renowned bhajan singer and Padma Shri awardee Anup Jalota highlighted the importance of yoga as the foundation of a healthy and balanced life during a special International Yoga Day 2026 session held at his residence.
The event brought together elements of wellness, spirituality, and music, with celebrity yoga therapist Shilpi Chugh leading discussions on the benefits of yoga, pranayama, and positive lifestyle practices.
Addressing participants, Shilpi Chugh emphasized that regular yoga practice goes far beyond physical fitness. She noted that yoga helps individuals build mental calmness, emotional balance, self-confidence, and overall well-being. Encouraging attendees to make yoga a daily habit, she described it as a powerful tool for achieving a healthier and more fulfilling life.
One of the most inspiring moments of the session came when Anup Jalota reflected on his personal journey with yoga, which spans more than six decades.
Sharing the secret behind his enduring fitness and energy, Jalota said that yoga has been an integral part of his life since his teenage years. He explained that maintaining healthy lungs and physical stamina is essential for a singer, and regular yoga practice has helped him continue performing on stage for long durations without fatigue.

“Yoga has been a constant companion throughout my life,” he said. “It has not only helped me maintain good health but has also contributed significantly to my singing by improving my breathing, stamina, and overall energy.”
The veteran artist credited yoga for enabling him to sustain an active lifestyle and continue engaging with audiences through live performances even after decades in the music industry.
The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the message that yoga is not merely an annual celebration but a lifelong practice that promotes physical health, mental wellness, and personal growth.
Participants described the session as both motivating and enlightening, with many expressing a renewed commitment to incorporating yoga into their daily routines.
The gathering served as a reminder that the principles of yoga remain as relevant today as ever, offering a pathway to better health, inner peace, and long-term well-being.
