Amity Institute of Pharmacy Organizes Two-Day National Conference on “Recent Breakthroughs in Pharmaceutical Sciences”

Lucknow: Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University, Lucknow Campus, inaugurated a two-day National Conference on “Recent Breakthroughs in Pharmaceutical Sciences: From Bench Innovations to Laboratory Applications and Beyond” today.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. M. Niranjan Babu, Central Council Member, PCI; Prof. Akash Ved, Central Council Member, PCI; Prof. Devesharan Rajamanickam, Drug Design and Development Centre, MSRUAS, Bengaluru, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University, Lucknow Campus; Wing Commander (Retd.) Prof. Anil Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Quamar Rehman, Dean of Research Science & Technology; Dr. Najmus Sehar, Deputy Director, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Lucknow; and Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Mishra, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy (AIP). The conference commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Mishra emphasized the importance of the conference, stating that it serves as a platform to explore the latest innovations in the pharmaceutical industry. She highlighted that the event aims to bring together leading researchers, industry experts, and academicians to discuss groundbreaking advancements in health, biological, and pharmaceutical sciences, translating them into real-world applications.
Prof. (Dr.) Anil Vashisht, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity Lucknow, felicitated the Chief Guest and other dignitaries while congratulating Amity Institute of Pharmacy for successfully organizing such an important and timely conference.

Addressing the audience, Prof. M. Niranjan Babu emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the pharmaceutical industry. He elaborated on how AI is driving major changes across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals. He emphasized that integrating AI tools into drug discovery and development can revolutionize the way pharmaceutical companies research, develop, and deliver solutions to the market. By leveraging vast amounts of data and machine learning algorithms, AI can significantly accelerate drug development, identify new therapeutic targets, and personalize treatments with remarkable precision.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Akash Ved discussed the advantages and limitations of Artificial Intelligence. He remarked that AI will play a crucial role in the future but cautioned against overdependence on it. He also shared key initiatives of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), announcing that the B. Pharm syllabus will be revised next year and that the exit exam draft for D. Pharm students has been approved by the Ministry. Additionally, he highlighted the government’s initiative to reduce course fees in the interest of students, with implementation expected soon.

The conference witnessed the participation of approximately 496 delegates from across the country, both in online and offline modes. Faculty members, Heads of Departments, and pharmacy students were present to engage in insightful discussions. The conference will continue Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
