Raebareli: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a strong focus on nation-building at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raebareli. This year’s celebrations highlighted the theme “Youth Power for Viksit Bharat@2047,” emphasising the role of young people in driving innovation, excellence and national development.
The celebrations began with the singing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Amita Jain inspected the Guard of Honour and hoisted the national flag. Faculty members, doctors, officers, nursing officers, employees and students attended the ceremony, along with the Deputy Director (Administration), Financial Adviser and Additional Medical Superintendent.
Extending Independence Day greetings to everyone, Prof. Jain said freedom was not only a right but also carried a sense of duty and responsibility towards the nation. She said the occasion was an opportunity to express gratitude to all those whose sacrifices and contributions made India’s independence possible.
In her address, she highlighted AIIMS Raebareli’s ongoing development in healthcare services, medical education, research and infrastructure. She reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to serving the nation through continued progress in healthcare.
She said young doctors, students, nursing officers and other employees could make a significant contribution to building a healthy and empowered India through their knowledge, skills and spirit of service. She also called upon healthcare providers to remain sensitive and responsive to patients and administered a pledge encouraging them to serve patients with greater compassion and responsibility.
MBBS and nursing students presented cultural performances that infused the gathering with patriotic spirit. The Fire Department also created an impressive representation of the Tricolour using streams of water, drawing appreciation from the audience.

As part of the celebrations, a mock drill was conducted to assess the institute’s disaster-management capabilities and emergency preparedness. The exercise provided an opportunity to evaluate the response mechanism and readiness of the institute’s teams in handling emergencies.
Following the programme, Prof. Jain visited the Paediatrics Department and interacted with admitted children. She distributed meals and gifts among them as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The programme concluded with a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0” campaign. Saplings were planted near the pond on the institute campus, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility alongside national development.
Those present at the celebrations pledged to embrace the spirit of “Youth Power for Viksit Bharat@2047” and contribute towards building a developed, self-reliant and healthy India.
The AIIMS Raebareli family extended warm Independence Day greetings to citizens across the country.
