Lucknow: Under the inspiration and guidance of the  Governor of Uttar Pradesh,  Anandiben Patel, Himachal Pradesh Foundation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Gandhi Auditorium of Raj Bhavan. The event reflected the vibrant culture, spiritual essence, and natural grandeur of the hill state through a series of mesmerizing performances and exhibitions.

The celebration featured captivating presentations of traditional Himachali folk dances including Sirmouri Nati, Hatti Ki Nati, Padua, Singhtu, and Lambra, which enthralled the audience with their rhythmic grace and cultural richness.

In the Raj Bhavan premises, a specially curated rangoli and exhibition showcasing the local traditions, mountainous lifestyle, spiritual depth, and artistic flair of Himachal Pradesh added a vivid visual experience. A documentary highlighting the geographic, cultural, and social uniqueness of the state was also screened, offering an insightful narrative into the life and ethos of Himachal.

In her address, Governor Anandiben Patel extended heartfelt congratulations to all the performers and lauded the state’s scenic beauty and diverse cultural legacy. She praised the people of Himachal for their resilience and harmonious lifestyle, stating, “Despite the challenges of living in a mountainous region, the people of Himachal lead joyful lives by supporting each other. Students in the state strive for academic success amidst tough conditions and continue to move forward.”

She further said, “The people of Himachal are peace-loving and patient. The women there are extremely hardworking and skilled, producing beautiful handcrafted items that not only boost their incomes but also carry the state’s identity to distant places.”

Highlighting the economic potential of tourism, the Governor remarked, “Tourism is one of the most promising sectors for employment generation. When tourism flourishes, every section of society benefits—be it handicrafts, cuisine, transport, or culture. It paves the way for holistic regional development.”

She cited the example of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, for its advanced fire safety technology and suggested implementing such models across the country. Sharing her own experiences of visiting Himachal, she mentioned the state’s libraries as hubs of research and knowledge, attracting scholars from across India and abroad.

Governor Patel also praised the scenic Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s Residence in Himachal, stating they are now open to the public—a move echoed by Uttar Pradesh Raj Bhavan as well. “Raj Bhavan is not just for one person, it belongs to the people,” she emphasized, noting that schoolchildren visit for educational tours and citizens come in the mornings and evenings for walks.

She spoke of various annual activities hosted at Raj Bhavan, including the celebration of Foundation Days of all Indian states. “Through these observances, we gain familiarity with the cultural and geographical uniqueness of other states,” she noted.

The Governor also highlighted the successful observance of Constitution Day at Raj Bhavan, where a Moot Court event conducted by officials received much appreciation and helped spread constitutional awareness. “The officers and staff at Raj Bhavan possess diverse talents, and such programs help showcase their capabilities,” she added.

Encouraging collaborative efforts, she suggested that every employee should aim to be an expert in at least one area and explore different Indian states to truly appreciate the country’s rich diversity and heritage.

On this occasion, cultural troupes from Himachal Pradesh presented the Governor with a traditional Himachali cap and muffler as a token of respect and hospitality—symbols of the state’s warm traditions.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries including Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, DGP (Training) Smt. Tilottama Verma, Special Secretary to the Governor Shri Shriprakash Gupta, Registrar of Bhatkhande University Smt. Srishti Dhawan, Assistant Director of Culture Smt. Reenu Rangbharati, Executive Officer of Culture Shri Kamlesh Pathak, along with artists, Raj Bhavan officers and staff, and other distinguished guests.
