Addressing the participants, KVK head Dr Arvind Singh Tetarwal urged women farmers to avoid excessive use of pesticides on crops to safeguard food quality and public health. He also emphasised balanced nutrition and encouraged the inclusion of millets in daily meals. He called upon women to participate more actively in agriculture and in activities conducted by the KVK.

Subject-matter expert Dr Ranjit Singh advised participants to develop kitchen gardens to ensure a year-round supply of fresh vegetables. He explained natural methods and the use of bio-based products to manage vegetable pests and diseases.

Home Science specialist Dr Neha Joshi provided information on food safety and the processing of fruits and vegetables. Programme coordinator Durga Dutt Sharma urged the women to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes.

Around 80 women from the village attended the programme. The KVK distributed vegetable seeds to all participants and fruit-bearing saplings to 20 women. Neem oil was also provided to women who already maintained kitchen gardens to support pest management.

The initiative aimed to promote safe food practices, improved nutrition, kitchen gardening and women’s participation in sustainable agriculture.
