Bhatkhande Sanskriti University Observes Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti with Tributes, Bhajans and Cleanliness Drive

Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow, observed the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri with a programme featuring tributes, devotional music and a cleanliness drive on the university campus.

The programme began at Sujan Auditorium with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandvi Singh offering floral tributes and garlanding portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event was conducted by university yoga teacher Anjani Kumar Dubey, who highlighted the lives, ideals and contributions of the two national leaders.

Students presented devotional renditions of Gandhi’s favourite bhajans, including Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. The performances highlighted Gandhi’s messages of truth, non-violence and humanity.

Prof. Mandvi Singh said Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, cleanliness and self-reliance, along with Shastri’s values of simplicity, honesty, dedication and service to the nation, continue to inspire society. She urged students to incorporate these values into their conduct and fulfil their responsibilities towards the nation.

Registrar Atul Kumar said the lives of Gandhi and Shastri offered lessons in simplicity, discipline, integrity and service. He said educational institutions have a responsibility to provide students with values and संस्कार alongside academic learning to help them become responsible citizens.

A cleanliness drive was also organised on the occasion. Students and teachers cleaned their respective classrooms and undertook cleaning and maintenance of musical instruments. They were encouraged to maintain cleanliness on the campus and in their surroundings.

Heads of departments, including Prof. Srishti Mathur (Vocal), Dr Manoj Kumar Mishra (Percussion) and Gyanendra Dutt Bajpai (Dance), along with teachers, officers, employees and a large number of students, attended the programme.

The event aimed to familiarise students with the lives and thoughts of Gandhi and Shastri while encouraging them to embrace their ideals, promote cleanliness and develop a sense of service and responsibility.
