Gonda: A simple gesture of hospitality during the Kajri Teej festival turned into a heartwarming example of communal harmony when a group of Kanwar pilgrims was warmly welcomed and offered refreshments at a rest stop on Faizabad Road in Gonda.
The pilgrims, who were travelling as part of the Kanwar pilgrimage, stopped for a brief rest outside the residence of social worker Latifurrahman. The group was welcomed warmly, with people enquiring about their journey and arranging drinking water and light refreshments for them.
The group included a large number of women and children. After travelling for a considerable distance, the pilgrims were able to take a short break in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The gesture created an emotional yet cheerful environment at the spot.
Some elderly women among the pilgrims recalled their long association with the place, saying that they had been stopping there to rest for nearly two decades. They said the warmth and affection extended to them on every visit had made the place a familiar and cherished halt during their journey.
Haji Shafiq, Qazi Anees, Mujeeb Ahmad, Iqbal Khan and Najmi Kamal were among those present and helped in arranging hospitality for the pilgrims.
The episode offered a powerful reminder that humanity and compassion can transcend religious boundaries. By extending hospitality to pilgrims belonging to another faith and respecting their religious journey, local residents demonstrated the values of mutual respect, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence.
