Gonda: Ahead of the Kajri Teej festival, Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal inspected Saryu Ghat, Dukhharan Nath Temple and Prithvinath Temple in Gonda to review arrangements for the convenience, safety and smooth movement of devotees. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashok Kumar, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Superintendent of Police Abhishek and Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad.
During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed facilities at the ghats, temple premises and routes used by devotees. She directed officials to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance and ensure continuous monitoring during the festival.
Nagpal said a large number of devotees are expected to visit the religious sites during Kajri Teej and that their safety and convenience must remain the administration’s highest priority. At Saryu Ghat, she directed officials to ensure adequate cleanliness, lighting, drinking water, security, barricading and crowd-management arrangements. The objective, she said, should be to enable devotees to take a holy dip and move around the area without inconvenience.
At Dukhharan Nath and Prithvinath temples, the Commissioner reviewed entry and exit arrangements, queue management, smooth darshan, sanitation, drinking water, lighting, parking and other public facilities. She also called for additional barricading and enhanced surveillance at crowded and sensitive locations wherever required.
She made it clear that negligence, indifference or laxity in arrangements for devotees during an important festival such as Kajri Teej would not be tolerated. Officials were instructed to work with responsibility and sensitivity to ensure that the festival passes off peacefully and in an orderly manner.
DIG Ashok Kumar reviewed the security arrangements and directed officials to deploy adequate police personnel, strengthen crowd management and maintain continuous surveillance at sensitive locations. He stressed the need to put all arrangements in place beforehand so that the movement of devotees remains smooth.
District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan directed officials to ensure the availability of health and emergency services and maintain close coordination among departments to deal with any unforeseen situation. She also instructed officials to conduct regular field inspections and immediately address any shortcomings identified during the festival preparations.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek emphasised strengthening cleanliness, beautification and public amenities at Saryu Ghat and the temple premises. He said devotees should be provided with a clean, safe and convenient environment while maintaining the sanctity and religious importance of the sites.
Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad directed concerned officials to continuously review arrangements and maintain regular field-level monitoring. He called for close coordination among all departments and prompt action on any issue that may arise.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner had taken up the issue of uninterrupted power supply during the Kajri Teej period with the state government. Following the administration’s efforts, uninterrupted and cut-free electricity supply has been approved for Gonda, Bahraich and Shravasti districts of the division. As per the arrangement, the three districts will receive uninterrupted power supply from 6 pm daily from September 10 to October 31, 2026, covering the festival period and the weeks that follow.
The inspection was attended by senior police and administrative officials along with personnel from the concerned departments, who were directed to remain alert and ensure that all preparations are completed within the stipulated time.
