Gonda: A meeting of district office-bearers of the Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Rural Sanitation Workers Union was held at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Irrigation Department Guest House in Gonda to finalise preparations for a proposed Tiranga Yatra in support of the employees’ demands.

The meeting was chaired by union district president Raghavendra Tiwari and conducted by district general secretary Devmani Shukla.

Addressing the meeting, divisional president Narsingh Narayan Pandey said the Tiranga Yatra would be organised on August 20 following a call from the state leadership. Block presidents were directed to mobilise sanitation workers from their respective development blocks and ensure their arrival at the district headquarters by noon to participate in the programme.

According to the programme plan, employees will assemble at Gandhi Park, where they will pay floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The participants will then proceed to Ambedkar Chauraha, where they will pay tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar before submitting a memorandum highlighting their demands.

Union leaders called upon employees to participate in large numbers and ensure that the programme is conducted in a disciplined and peaceful manner.
