Chief Minister Flags Off 60 Advanced Sanitation Vehicles for Bareilly Municipal Corporation

Bareilly: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off a fleet of 60 state-of-the-art sanitation vehicles procured by the Bareilly Municipal Corporation, marking a significant step toward strengthening the city’s cleanliness and waste management infrastructure.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Circuit House in Bareilly, where the Chief Minister launched six robotic manhole sewer cleaning machines, two skid loaders, 50 CNG auto tippers, and two backhoe loaders. The advanced equipment is expected to improve the efficiency of sanitation operations, reduce dependence on manual labor, and enhance the safety and effectiveness of sewer and solid waste management across the city.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that building a clean and healthy city requires collective participation. He said the deployment of modern technology-driven sanitation vehicles would accelerate cleanliness efforts, improve scientific waste disposal, and strengthen sewer maintenance services, ultimately providing better civic amenities to residents.

Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Maurya highlighted the significance of the newly introduced robotic manhole cleaning machines. He explained that the Bandicoot Mobility system, developed under the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Make in India initiative, is India’s first robotic scavenger capable of eliminating the need for human entry into manholes. Equipped with advanced gripping, lifting, and cleaning functions, the machine can perform 360-degree cleaning operations inside sewer chambers.

Maurya further informed that the skid loaders will be used for lifting silt after drain-cleaning operations, while the 50 newly acquired CNG auto tippers will support the “Every Day Four Bins” initiative for source segregation of solid waste. The vehicles will facilitate door-to-door collection of waste in four categories—wet waste (green), dry waste (blue), special care waste (black), and sanitary waste (red). The two backhoe loaders will assist in large-scale drain cleaning activities carried out under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Following the flag-off ceremony, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath planted a bael sapling in the Circuit House premises and also inaugurated the Mobile Eye Care Service Van of Deep Charitable Trust, aimed at expanding access to eye care services for the public.

Several public representatives and senior administrative officials were present on the occasion.
