Gonda: In a significant public service initiative, Tarabganj Police successfully recovered 16 lost and misplaced Android mobile phones worth approximately ₹2.6 lakh and returned them to their rightful owners.
The recovery was made as part of an ongoing district-wide campaign launched under the direction of Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal to trace and recover lost mobile devices. The drive is being carried out through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal, a platform developed by the Government of India and actively utilized by Uttar Pradesh Police for tracking missing mobile phones.
Acting on instructions from the Superintendent of Police to intensify efforts through regular monitoring of complaints registered on the CEIR portal, the Tarabganj Police team worked in coordination with the surveillance cell to trace the devices. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Radheshyam Rai and the leadership of Circle Officer Tarabganj Umeshwar Prabhat Singh.
Through technical analysis and sustained follow-up on complaints received via the portal, police successfully recovered 16 Android smartphones from different locations within the police station jurisdiction.
On June 14, the recovered phones were formally handed over to their owners. The recipients expressed happiness and relief upon receiving their lost devices and thanked Gonda Police for their prompt and efficient action. Many of the beneficiaries praised the department’s commitment to public service and the effective use of technology in resolving citizen grievances.
