Lucknow: With diabetes emerging as a growing public health concern, the Faculty of Yoga and Alternative Medicine at University of Lucknow organized a seminar on “Diabetes Management Through Yoga” to raise awareness about preventive and holistic approaches to managing the disease.
The seminar brought together students, researchers, teachers, and health enthusiasts to discuss the role of yoga and lifestyle modifications in controlling diabetes and improving overall well-being.
Addressing the gathering as the keynote speaker, Rakesh Kumar Srivastava highlighted the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for effective diabetes management. He explained that regular yoga practice, pranayama, a balanced diet, and a disciplined daily routine can significantly help in controlling blood sugar levels and reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications.
Srivastava also demonstrated and explained various yogic practices and simple health interventions that can support metabolic health. He encouraged participants to adopt healthier lifestyles and make yoga a regular part of their daily routine to achieve long-term physical and mental wellness.
The programme was attended by Prof. Alok Kumar Yadav and Dr. Amarjeet Yadav, who emphasized the growing relevance of yoga-based interventions in addressing lifestyle-related diseases.

Speakers noted that the increasing prevalence of diabetes across age groups has made awareness and preventive healthcare more important than ever. They stressed that yoga not only helps in managing blood glucose levels but also contributes to stress reduction, improved cardiovascular health, and enhanced quality of life.
The seminar concluded with a call for greater adoption of yoga as a preventive healthcare tool and reinforced the message that healthy living, supported by regular physical activity and mindful dietary habits, can play a crucial role in combating lifestyle disorders such as diabetes.
Through the event, the university sought to promote awareness about the therapeutic benefits of yoga and encourage individuals to embrace healthier habits for long-term wellness and disease prevention.
