District-wise development plans to focus on agriculture, tourism, employment and infrastructure
Gonda: In a major step towards planned and inclusive regional growth, Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal has initiated the process of preparing a comprehensive district-wise development roadmap for the entire Devipatan Division. The initiative aims to create development strategies tailored to the unique geographical, social and economic needs of each district.
The newly appointed Commissioner has sought detailed reports and suggestions from all District Magistrates regarding key challenges, local opportunities and possible long-term solutions within their respective districts. The exercise is being seen as an important move aligned with the vision of the Uttar Pradesh government to promote a district-centric development model.
According to Durga Shakti Nagpal, every district within the division has distinct requirements and growth potential, making it essential to implement development plans based on local realities rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
She has directed officials to prioritise sectors including agriculture, tourism, education, healthcare, transportation, employment generation, women empowerment and the development of tribal regions. The Commissioner said residents would witness significant and positive changes in these sectors in the coming years.
Shravasti Focuses on Buddhist Tourism and Organic Farming
Shravasti has highlighted strong opportunities in Buddhist tourism, sports infrastructure and organic farming in its proposed development report. Plans have been suggested for the expansion and promotion of historical and religious sites including Jetavana Monastery, along with the development of sports infrastructure and agriculture-based industries.
The district has also identified recurring floods, transportation limitations and healthcare accessibility as major concerns. Proposed solutions include railway connectivity improvements, airport expansion, strengthening embankments and widening healthcare services.
Agriculture, Dairy and Religious Tourism Key to Gonda’s Growth
Gonda has identified agriculture, dairy development, food processing and religious tourism as major drivers of future economic growth. The district administration has proposed strengthening healthcare infrastructure, promoting agro-processing units, expanding skill development programmes and improving road and transport connectivity.
Special emphasis has also been placed on preparing a permanent solution to recurring floods caused by the Ghaghara and Saryu rivers.

Bahraich Prioritises Tribal Development and Employment
Bahraich has focused on improving education, employment opportunities and infrastructure in tribal areas. The district has proposed development initiatives centred around marketing of local products, promotion of agro-based industries, road connectivity projects and the construction of railway overbridges.
Efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education to improve employment opportunities for youth have also been included in the development framework.
Balrampur Highlights Tribal Heritage and Digital Expansion
Balrampur has prioritised flood management, tribal welfare, healthcare services and digital expansion in its development vision. The district has identified the cultural heritage of the Tharu tribe, religious tourism, organic farming and food processing as key growth sectors.
Proposed initiatives include advanced flood alert systems, mobile nutrition vans, expansion of digital education and improved rural infrastructure and services.
Speaking on the broader vision for the division, Durga Shakti Nagpal said that planned development based on local resources and district-specific strengths would help strengthen employment opportunities, attract investment and improve infrastructure across the region.
She added that the long-term objective is to establish Devipatan Division among the leading development regions of Uttar Pradesh through balanced, sustainable and people-centric growth initiatives.
