Bareilly: Emphasising the need for specialised care in pediatric treatment and surgery, SRMS Medical College organised a one-day academic programme titled “Pedia Safe Anaesthesia Update 2026” .
The event was organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Management and brought together medical experts, delegates, postgraduate residents and faculty members to discuss the latest advancements, research and practical approaches in pediatric anaesthesia.
Experts at the conference highlighted that children are significantly more sensitive to medicines, diagnostic procedures and anaesthesia than adults, making specialised training and updated medical knowledge crucial for safe treatment and surgical outcomes.
Experts Stress Need for Continuous Learning and Advanced Training
Addressing the inaugural session, Dev Murti, Founder and Chairman of the SRMS Trust, congratulated the delegates and residents participating in the workshop and stressed the importance of practical learning and ethical medical education.
He remarked that continuous learning and regular participation in conferences and workshops help doctors remain updated with the latest developments in their fields, ultimately benefiting patients through improved treatment standards.
The chief guest for the programme was Anshu Gupta from Lady Hardinge Medical College, while Anshuman Mishra from Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital served as Workshop Director.
Dr. Anshu Gupta stated that anaesthesia plays a vital role in all surgeries, but its importance becomes even more sensitive and complex in pediatric procedures, where enhanced vigilance and updated expertise are essential.
The organising chairperson, Geeta Karki, welcomed the participants and explained the objectives and importance of the workshop.
Principal Air Marshal (Retd.) M S Butola highlighted the institution’s academic achievements and described the workshop as an important platform for skill enhancement and medical learning.
The vote of thanks was delivered by organising secretary Divya Vijay, while the inaugural session was conducted by Shubhra Kumari.

Several senior faculty members and administrators attended the event, including Aditya Murti, S K Sagar, Bindu Garg, Lalit Singh, Neelima Mehrotra, K M Jha, Brajesh Mehrotra and Manoj Kumar Tangri, along with faculty members, residents and postgraduate students from the Anaesthesia Department.
Scientific Sessions Focus on Pediatric Anaesthesia and Emergency Care
The academic sessions featured lectures and practical workshops by leading specialists from across the country.
Dr. Anshu Gupta delivered a lecture on “Pediatric Airway Anatomy and Challenges,” while Dr. Anshuman Mishra discussed “Lower Limb and Truncal Blocks in Children.”
Mukul Kumar Jain from Post Graduate Institute of Child Health spoke on “Preoperative Assessment and Preparation in Children.”
From Banaras Hindu University, Reena delivered a lecture on “Fluid Therapy and Blood Transfusion in Pediatrics.”
Senior Consultant Shipra Singh spoke on “Regional Anaesthesia in Pediatrics – Anatomy and Pharmacology,” while consultant Jasmeet Gill discussed “Epidural, Spinal and Caudal Central Neuraxial Blocks in Children.”
Senior Consultant Ashish Kumar delivered a session on “Brachial Plexus Block in Children,” and Apoorva Sadho shared insights on “Management in Pediatric Emergencies.”
The workshop concluded with interactive sessions and practical demonstrations aimed at improving patient safety and advancing pediatric anaesthesia practices among healthcare professionals.
