Mayawati Refutes Viral Letter Claiming Expulsion of BSP Leaders

Lucknow: Mayawati, chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has dismissed as “fake and fabricated” a viral letter circulating on social media that claimed the expulsion of senior leaders Mewalal Gautam, Munkad Ali, and Naushad Ali from the party.

Issuing a statement late Saturday night on the social media platform X, Mayawati clarified that the letter purportedly announcing their expulsion was not authentic and had been released using a forged letterhead of the BSP’s Bulandshahr district unit. She urged party workers, supporters, and the media to disregard such misinformation and verify facts before sharing or publishing similar claims.

The clarification came amid reports of disciplinary action within the party. Earlier, BSP district leadership had confirmed the expulsion of Jai Prakash Singh and Dharmveer Singh Ashok for alleged involvement in anti-party activities and indiscipline.

Mayawati emphasized that while strict action is taken against those violating party discipline, any communication regarding such decisions follows official procedures. She also cautioned media outlets against amplifying unverified reports, stressing the need for responsible journalism.

The incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation in political discourse, particularly ahead of key electoral developments in Uttar Pradesh.
