Lucknow: The first day of the Ph.D. entrance examination at University of Lucknow concluded successfully on with the test conducted in two shifts—morning and evening—across multiple centres. A large number of candidates appeared for the examination, which was carried out in an organised and transparent manner.
In the morning session, Hindi recorded the highest attendance with 630 candidates appearing for the exam. English followed with 327 candidates, while Mathematics saw 92 candidates. Management Studies had 90 present candidates, Home Science 99, Biochemistry 56, Anthropology 16, Urdu 23, and Western History 29. Notably, Arabic Culture recorded the lowest turnout, with only one candidate appearing.
The evening session also witnessed significant participation, with Political Science emerging as the most opted subject, drawing 592 candidates. Zoology saw 229 candidates, Geography 82, Sanskrit 66, Statistics 39, Applied Economics 78, Physics 68, Journalism and Mass Communication 32, Library and Information Science 29, and Arabic 6 candidates.

Vice-Chancellor J. P. Saini visited the examination centres at the university’s new campus to review the arrangements. He expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination and praised the प्रशासन for maintaining discipline and transparency. He reiterated the university’s commitment to upholding high standards in higher education and encouraged students to pursue excellence in research with integrity.
Overall, the first day of the examination proceeded without any disruptions, reflecting efficient planning and management by the university authorities. Subjects like Hindi and Political Science witnessed the highest attendance, while Arabic Culture recorded minimal participation.
The successful conduct of the examination highlights the university’s emphasis on fairness, efficiency, and academic excellence in its admission processes.
