Distinguished Scientist Prof. Rajiv Manohar Appointed as Vice Chancellor of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi

RANCHI/LUCKNOW — The  Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities of Jharkhand, exercising the powers conferred under Section 10(2) of the Jharkhand State Universities Act, 2000 (adapted), has appointed Prof. Rajiv Manohar as the Vice Chancellor of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), Ranchi.

According to the official notification (No. DSPMU-04/2025) issued by the Governor’s Secretariat, Prof. Manohar will hold the office for a term of three years from the date he assumes charge.

A Legacy of Academic and Research Excellence

Prof. Rajiv Manohar joins DSPMU from the University of Lucknow, where he has served with distinction for over three decades. A Professor in the Department of Physics and Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), he is a globally recognized authority in Condensed Matter Physics, specifically in the field of liquid crystal and nanomaterial composites.

His scientific contributions are immense, with over 400 research papers published in reputed international journals. His work has earned thousands of citations, resulting in a formidable h-index of 34, a testament to his profound impact on materials science and global research.

Beyond his research, Prof. Manohar has been a pivotal administrative figure at the University of Lucknow. As the Director of IQAC, he was instrumental in steering the university through accreditation processes and implementing rigorous quality enhancement measures. His initiatives, such as departmental assessment frameworks and research reward schemes, have significantly boosted the academic standards of the institution.

His expertise continues to be sought at the national level; he was recently named to the National Advisory Committee for the National Symposium on Recent Advances in Material Science & Technology (RAMST-2025), scheduled for December 2025.

The appointment, ordered by the  Governor-cum-Chancellor, is subject to vigilance clearance from his parent organization (University of Lucknow). The official communication has been dispatched to his residence in Rajendra Nagar, Lucknow, and copies have been marked to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Registrar of DSPMU.

Academic circles have welcomed the appointment, noting that Prof. Manohar’s blend of high-level scientific research and administrative acumen will lead Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University toward a new era of innovation, research excellence, and global recognition.
