10-Day Art Course Concludes at Uttar Pradesh State Museum, Showcasing Talent from Across India

Lucknow: The ‘Kala Abhiruchi Pathyakram’ (Art Appreciation Course) organized by the Uttar Pradesh State Museum concluded on February 27, 2026, with a grand closing ceremony and certificate distribution at the museum auditorium. The ten-day course offered participants a comprehensive understanding of art, culture, and heritage, fostering appreciation and responsibility toward India’s rich artistic legacy.

The program drew over 100 participants from across the country, who displayed remarkable skill and creativity throughout the course. Participants were recognized for their outstanding performances: Atika Verma secured first place, Kashish Chaudhary was awarded second, and Kuldeep Singh took third place. Priya Tiwari and Richa Mehrotra received special encouragement awards. Certificates were distributed to all participants, acknowledging their interest, dedication, and contributions to the field of art.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, congratulating the winners, highlighted that the course’s appeal across India demonstrates its significance and popularity. He emphasized that the initiative aims not merely to hold a competition, but to enhance cultural awareness among youth and art enthusiasts, connecting them to Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and artistic treasures. He added that nurturing pride and responsibility toward one’s roots is a core objective of the program.

The course also featured a detailed session on “Preventive Conservation of Museum Objects” by chief speaker Dharmendra Mishra, who shared techniques for preserving historical artifacts such as Chamba rumals, lead objects, terracotta, glasswork, and wall paintings. He discussed necessary precautions and modern methods to ensure these treasures remain protected for future generations.

Certificates were presented by Dr. Srishti Dhawan, Director of the UP Museum Directorate, who extended her best wishes to all participants for their future endeavors. Dr. Vinay Kumar Singh gave the vote of thanks, while Dr. Meenakshi Khemka, Assistant Director, conducted the proceedings. Additionally, the museum paid homage to freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad on his immortal martyrdom day, offering floral tributes at his portrait and mortal remains. All staff members of the museum were present for the occasion.

The initiative, led by the Department of Culture, aims to foster cultural awareness among youth and art lovers, strengthening their connection with the state’s heritage and artistic legacy.
