Healthcare Leap in Gonda: Modern Labour Wing & Ward Inaugurated

Gonda, June 23, 2026 — A newly constructed Labour Room Wing and Ward at the District Hospital and Government Medical College in Gonda was formally inaugurated on Monday by local dignitaries in a ceremony aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare services in the district.

The facility was inaugurated by Gonda Sadar MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh, District Magistrate Mrs. Priyanka Niranjan, and representative of the Member of Parliament and Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Ramashankar Mishra. The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of hospital staff, medical professionals, and invited guests, who extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the expansion of maternal healthcare infrastructure through the new labour wing and ward is a significant step towards improving services for pregnant women. He emphasized that the initiative would ensure safer deliveries and better medical care for mothers and newborns, reflecting the state government’s continued focus on strengthening public healthcare delivery.

District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan stated that the newly developed facility, equipped with modern medical infrastructure, would further enhance maternal and neonatal healthcare services in the region. She urged the medical college administration to continue working with sensitivity and dedication to provide high-quality patient care.

Following the inauguration, the dignitaries inspected the new facility and reviewed the available medical equipment and arrangements. They also interacted with doctors and healthcare workers, encouraging them to maintain excellence in service delivery for patients.

The event was attended by the Principal of the Medical College, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anil Tiwari, senior officials from the medical college and health department, doctors, nursing staff, and other employees. The inauguration is expected to significantly benefit residents of the district by improving access to specialized maternal healthcare services.
