From Manufacturing to Innovation: Uttar Pradesh’s Big Leap as 55% of India’s Mobile Phones Are Now Made in the State

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of India’s leading economic and industrial growth engines, with nearly 55 per cent of the country’s mobile phone production and about 60 per cent of electronic components manufacturing now taking place in the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted this transformation while addressing the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, stating that the past nine years have marked a historic phase of progress for the state.

The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh has carved out a new identity not only in manufacturing and investment but also in innovation and future-ready industries. He attributed this growth to well-planned policies, a robust administrative framework and a strong focus on Ease of Doing Business, which has helped the state attract large-scale domestic and global investments.

CM Yogi Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh being declared the top achiever state in Ease of Doing Business reflects the success of reforms such as the single-window clearance system, time-bound approvals and transparent processes. These measures, he said, have significantly strengthened investor confidence and accelerated industrial expansion across the state.

Emphasising human capital development, the Chief Minister said the state government has effectively implemented national initiatives such as the National Education Policy, Skill India, Startup India and Standup India at the grassroots level. These efforts have enabled youth to acquire modern skills, leading to increased employment and self-employment opportunities.

He further stated that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly advancing in future-oriented sectors including Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, cyber security, robotics, drone technology and electric vehicles. Alongside this, the state has opened new avenues in agritech, fintech, deeptech, healthtech, tourism, hospitality, defence manufacturing, general manufacturing and sports, giving fresh momentum to economic growth.

The Chief Minister concluded that Uttar Pradesh’s journey from a traditionally agrarian economy to a manufacturing and innovation hub reflects the state’s readiness to play a decisive role in India’s growth story, positioning it as a preferred destination for investment, technology and enterprise in the years ahead.
