Lucknow: Under a gentle winter sun that seemed to bear silent testimony to both tradition and transformation, Colvin Taluqdars’ College, Lucknow, celebrated its Darbar Day (Sports Day) 2025 with ceremonial splendour and vibrant sporting spirit. The occasion was rendered truly momentous by the presence of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, as the Chief Guest, along with Raja Kirti Vardhan Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and President, BIA, as the Guest of Honour.
The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished members of the College Management Committee, including Kunwar Manish Vardhan Singh, Secretary-cum-Manager; Kunwar Vinay Kumar Singh; Raja Birendra Singh Parmar; Raja Anil Pratap Singh; Raja Rakesh Pratap Singh; Seth Shailendra Nath Tandon; Rai Swareshwar Bali; Kunwar Dhyan Pal Singh; and Vasudhendra Pratap Singh. The occasion was also graced by Anupama Singh, Principal (U.P. Board Wing), and Sangeeta Singh Chauhan, Headmistress, whose presence added academic gravitas and leadership to the celebrations.
The programme commenced with a traditional floral welcome of the Chief Guest, symbolising reverence, gratitude, and the institution’s deeply ingrained values. This was followed by the Principal’s Report, presented by Sachidanand Singh, Principal (ISC Wing), who highlighted the resounding success of Anandotsava, a multi-school cultural and co-curricular festival that witnessed participation from eighteen schools. He paid rich tribute to the legacy of Raja Anand Singh, recalling his visionary leadership that continues to guide the institution towards reclaiming its historic glory.
The report also highlighted the commendable board examination results of the academic session 2024–25, ongoing and proposed infrastructural developments, and the strategic appointment of capable faculty members with strong English communication skills. It was noted with pride that Colvin students have consistently brought laurels to the institution by excelling across academic, cultural, and sporting platforms in reputed colleges across the country.
Formally declaring the Sports Meet open, Raja Kirti Vardhan Singh set an energetic and disciplined tone for the day. The ceremonial torch relay and oath-taking by the athletes reaffirmed the ideals of integrity, fair play, and collective responsibility—values central to both the institution and the nation.
The ceremonial crescendo was marked by the impressive March Past by the Houses, followed by the Pyramid Drill and the Ceremonial Muster, presenting a stirring visual narrative of discipline, precision, and unity.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep admiration for the immaculate March Past and the synchronised Pyramid Drill, commending the exceptional precision, consistency, and collective discipline displayed by the students. He emphasised that physical training and mental rigour are vital instruments in shaping character and leadership, underlining that discipline, physical fitness, and moral strength form the bedrock of nation-building. He urged students to cultivate resilience, self-control, and a strong sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.
The programme culminated in the Prize Distribution Ceremony, honouring outstanding achievers for their excellence and perseverance. Elesh Pratap Singh of Taxila House was awarded the Cock House Trophy, while Pranjal Tripathi of Taxila House received the Best of Talent in Academics and Sports award. Devraj Singh Patel of Nalanda House secured the Carrom Trophy, Ayushi Singh of Nalanda House was honoured as the Best All-Rounder Girl, and Sarthak Tripathi of Nalanda House clinched the Volleyball Trophy.
The celebrations concluded with the singing of the National Anthem at 4:30 p.m., bringing the day’s proceedings to a dignified close and leaving behind an enduring impression of inspiration, discipline, and institutional pride.
