CM Yogi Adityanath Stresses Modernization of Fire and Emergency Services

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the urgent need to strengthen and modernize the state’s Fire and Emergency Services Department, equipping it with advanced tools, skilled manpower, and a robust operational structure. Chairing a high-level review meeting at his official residence in Lucknow on Thursday, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the department evolves into a comprehensive disaster management and emergency response force.

Highlighting the need for a cadre review, Yogi Adityanath instructed that each region should have a specialized unit capable of handling chemical, biological, and radiological incidents, as well as emergencies in super high-rise buildings. He also stressed the creation of new posts and administrative reforms to boost efficiency, financial transparency, and accountability across all districts.

To enhance training and research, additional posts will be created at the State Fire Service Training College, ensuring continuous skill upgradation. The Chief Minister also directed the establishment of small fire outposts every 100 km along expressways, equipped with fire tenders to enable quick response within the “golden hour” of any accident.

He underscored that the Fire Service is directly linked to the safety of lives and property, and its structure should be capable of delivering swift, efficient, and responsible action in any situation. Following his directives, the creation of 98 gazetted and 922 non-gazetted posts has been approved, strengthening the department’s capacity at district, regional, and headquarters levels.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that new operational fire units have already been deployed at airports in Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, and Sonbhadra, marking a significant expansion of the state’s fire safety infrastructure.
