Barcelona — FC Barcelona has officially announced the extension of head coach Hansi Flick’s contract until June 30, 2027, following an impressive debut season where the German tactician led the club to a domestic treble and re-established its presence as a European powerhouse.
The contract signing took place on Wednesday at the club’s headquarters, with president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, and sporting director Deco in attendance.
Flick’s impact has been remarkable in just one season. Under his guidance, a young and energetic Barcelona squad clinched La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup — marking one of the most successful first-year coaching spells in the club’s history.
Joan Laporta praised Flick’s influence, stating, “The journey so far has been magical. Hansi’s passion, determination, and winning mentality have reinvigorated the club. This contract renewal reflects our confidence in both his leadership and our promising young team.”
From his first match in charge — a thrilling comeback victory against Valencia on August 18 — Barcelona displayed resilience and tactical brilliance, winning nine games this season after overcoming deficits.

With 43 wins out of 54 matches, Flick holds a 73% win rate, the highest for a new Barça coach since Luis Enrique’s 83%. Notably, Flick led the team to victory in all seven finals he coached during his first year, securing Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles against fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Although Barcelona narrowly missed out on the Champions League title, Flick’s domestic success places him in elite company. Only four managers — Luis Enrique, Ernesto Valverde, Pep Guardiola, and Louis van Gaal — have won both the league and the cup in their debut seasons at Barcelona.
Sporting director Deco commented, “Hansi Flick is building something historic here. His vision, combined with our faith in the next generation, gives us great optimism for the future of the club.”
