Lucknow: In a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X, Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar mourned the loss of his beloved pet, Nemo, whom he referred to as “a piece of my heart.” The state’s top cop wrote, “Today, I laid a piece of my heart to rest at the designated cemetery of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.”
He added emotionally, “Buried beneath the earth but forever etched into my soul, he was an endless source of life. With every beat, he filled hearts and lit up lives. Rest in peace, dear Nemo.”
The emotional tribute quickly drew widespread sympathy online, with many users expressing condolences and appreciating the humane side of the senior officer.
Clarification Over Viral Allegations
Meanwhile, the post came amidst controversy stirred by former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who took to social media to allege that DGP Prashant Kumar was spotted in plain clothes at an open ground in Viram Khand, Gomti Nagar, accompanied only by an escort. Thakur further claimed that a local policeman asked him to delete a video of the incident, questioning the nature of the visit.
However, DGP Prashant Kumar promptly addressed the speculation in his post, clarifying that his visit to the area was purely personal, as he was bidding farewell to his pet Nemo, who had passed away that day. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss, making it clear that there was no official or suspicious engagement involved.
