Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief Over the Passing of Ram Temple’s Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das

Lucknow, February 12, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has conveyed his profound grief over the demise of Acharya Satyendra Das, the esteemed head priest of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Acharya Satyendra Das, aged 85, passed away on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow, following a cerebral stroke. His disciple, Pradeep Das, confirmed the news of his passing.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on social networking site X, CM Yogi expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “The death of Acharya Shri Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Shri Ayodhya Dham, and the ultimate devotee of Lord Ram, is very sad and an irreparable loss to the spiritual world. Respectful homage! We ask Lord Shri Ram to offer the deceased a position at his feet and to give the grieving disciples and followers the fortitude to endure this tremendous loss. Om peace!”

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also extended his condolences, saying, “Today, I received the saddening news that Ayodhya Dham’s chief priest, revered Satyendra Das Ji, is no more. The loss of his passing is irreversible. He devoted his life to the temple movement of Ram Lalla.”

Expressing his sorrow, Iqbal Ansari, a former petitioner in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, remarked, “The country and society have been deeply saddened by the priest’s death. We lament this loss. He was a spiritual leader and a priest of Lord Ram at Ayodhya. We shall miss him terribly. His passing is a huge loss for everyone, and I think of him as a father figure. We hope he finds a place in paradise as a blessed servant of Lord Ram and pray for the tranquility of his soul.”

Acharya Satyendra Das held the longest tenure as the chief priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, overseeing its spiritual proceedings since its temporary structure phase. His unwavering dedication and guidance made him a revered figure not only in Ayodhya but across the nation. His passing marks the end of an era in the temple’s spiritual leadership, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and service.
