Maha Kumbh Nagar: The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has already made history with its grand scale and unprecedented gathering of devotees. To ensure a safe and well-organized event, the Yogi government has implemented several exemplary initiatives. Among these, the establishment of Digital Lost-Found Centers has been a game-changer in swiftly reuniting lost individuals with their families, providing relief to thousands of devotees.
Thousands of Families Reunited This year’s Kumbh has witnessed the successful reunion of over 13,000 lost individuals with their families, with over 64% of them being women. Additionally, the police have played a crucial role in reuniting devotees from 23 different states and Nepal with their loved ones. Notably, 11 cases of lost individuals from Nepal were also recorded and successfully resolved.
During the sacred Mauni Amavasya festival, the Digital Lost-Found Centers managed the massive crowds efficiently, reuniting more than 7,500 lost individuals with their families.
Strict Implementation of CM’s Directives Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Digital Lost-Found Centers via a digital system on December 7, 2024. He also directed the police administration and mela authorities to ensure that no devotee faces difficulties. As a result, 10 Digital Lost-Found Centers have been set up at key locations such as Sangam, Jhusi, Arail, Phaphamau, and various sectors, including Prayagraj Junction Railway Station.
A Unique Blend of Technology and Humanity These centers are equipped with cutting-edge AI-based facial recognition systems, machine learning, and multilingual support. This advanced technology has enabled the rapid identification and reunion of lost individuals. The initiative has been supported by the Uttar Pradesh Police, administrative officials, and several voluntary organizations, including UNICEF and other NGOs.
Providing Essential Facilities for Those in Need Under CM Yogi Adityanath’s directives, these centers are equipped with waiting rooms, medical facilities, restrooms, and other essential amenities to ensure a smooth reunion process. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Maha Kumbh is not just a religious gathering but also a symbol of service and good governance.
