Lucknow: Seeing the dangers looming on the railway lines, the police department of the state has become active. Under the chairmanship of DGP Prashant Kumar, a meeting was held between all the senior police officers of the state and senior railway officials through video conferencing and a strategy was prepared for the security of the railway lines. Railway officials from Ambala, Delhi and Mughalsarai also attended the meeting.
In the presence of Prashant Kumar, ADG Railway Prakash , ADG STF Amitabh Yash, ADG Crime SK Bhagat, all the zonal ADGs of the state, ADG RPF Baroda House and Principal Chief Security Commissioner Delhi, as well as ADRMs of Delhi, Ambala and Mughalsarai also attended the meeting.
The DGP said that in view of the incidents of blocking the railway lines, effective steps should be taken for the security of the lines. Apart from this, instructions were given to get wall-facing done for the security of the lines, identify vulnerable areas, conduct joint patrolling, hold coordination meetings at the divisional level, remove illegal constructions around the railway track and prepare SOP.
He said that for proper security of railway lines, high technology should be used and CCTV cameras should be installed in train engines and coaches.
The DGP said that Uttar Pradesh has the largest railway network in the country. In the past, in coordination with the incidents of blocking of railway lines, action will be taken by preparing an SOP involving all stakeholders to prevent such incidents. RPF, GRP and local police should jointly patrol the railway lines and share any input received.
It was decided to take strict action against those who pelt stones on trains. It was said that an analysis of all the criminal incidents that have taken place on railway lines in the last 10 years has been done. Verification of people living around railway lines should be done.
