Mathura: Preparations are in full swing to celebrate the 5251st birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna (Janmashtami) in Mathura with faith and grandeur. Tourism facilities are being developed in Mathura in view of the large number of tourists. In this sequence, the Braj Tirtha Vikas Parishad has approved Rs 20.99 crore for facade lighting and signage work on the Govardhan Parikrama Marg and Rs 43.66 crore for the development and restoration work of the ghats of the Yamuna river.
This information was given by the state’s Tourism and Culture Minister. He said that the Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority has been designated as the implementing agency for facade lighting and signage work on the Govardhan Parikrama Marg. The Governor has also approved the first installment of Rs 10 crore against the approved Rs 20.99 crore under the scheme.
At the same time, the first installment of Rs 15 crore has been released to the designated working agency Irrigation Department and Upper Section Agra Canal against the approved amount of Rs 43.66 crore for the development and restoration work of the ghats of the Yamuna river.
Jaiveer Singh said that Govardhan mountain has religious importance. According to beliefs, the 21-km Govardhan Parikrama has been divided into two parts. The small parikrama is about 9 km long and the big parikrama is about 12 km long. Govardhan Parikrama starts from Mansi-Ganga Kund. For the convenience of devotees, lighting and signage work will be done on this entire route.
The Tourism Minister said that under the development and restoration work of the ghats of the Yamuna river, the existing ghat from Bengali Ghat to Sati Ghat will be developed and renovated. In which the existing ghat from Bengali Ghat to Vishram Ghat will be strengthened again and the stairs and width of the ghats will be redesigned and provision of basic facilities like benches for sitting, drinking water etc. will be made.
Jaiveer Singh said that devotees visit Mathura and Braj region throughout the year. A large number of devotees arrive during Janmashtami and Rangotsav. Tourism facilities and infrastructure are being developed for the tourists so that the tourists visiting Mathura-Vrindavan take back a pleasant experience.
