Lucknow: The 68th National School Athletics Under-17 Competition was inaugurated at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Kursi Road, Lucknow, by Governor Anandiben Patel. This prestigious event will run from November 26 to November 30, 2024, bringing together young athletes from across the nation.
Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Dr. Mahendra Dev, Director of Secondary Education, State Minister of Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh, and Additional Chief Secretary Secondary, Finance, and Home Deepak Kumar. Dr. Dev confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the event were completed under close monitoring by senior officials to ensure its success.
Participation Across India
Pradeep Kumar, Joint Director of Secondary Education and Secretary, shared that teams from 45 units, encompassing all Indian states and union territories, are participating. As of November 25, teams from states such as Manipur, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, as well as union territories like Dadra Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep, have already arrived. These teams, accompanied by their HODs, coaches, and managers, are being warmly received, with dedicated officers assigned to ensure their seamless transportation and accommodation.
A Scientific Touch to the Games
Adding a unique dimension to the event, the Regional Science City will station its Science Van at the Sports College campus on the first day. This initiative allows the young athletes to engage with scientific models and principles during their free time, fostering a blend of sports and science education.
