UP Minister Anil Kumar Meets CM Yogi Adityanath, Seeks Withdrawal of 2018 Dalit Protest Cases

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Science and Technology and Purkazi MLA from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Anil Kumar, met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today in Lucknow to raise several pressing issues, following directives from RLD National President and Union Minister Chaudhary Jayant Singh.

A key agenda of the meeting was the withdrawal of cases filed during the Dalit protests of April 2, 2018. Chaudhary Jayant Singh had specifically instructed Anil Kumar to bring up the matter with the Chief Minister. Kumar highlighted the plight of the Dalit community, stating that due to the registration of cases across various districts, community members continue to face hardship and legal complications even today.

During the meeting, Anil Kumar informed the Chief Minister that a total of 263 cases were filed across Uttar Pradesh during the 2018 Dalit agitation. He presented district-wise details of these cases and requested that all such cases be withdrawn in the interest of justice and relief for the Dalit community.

Responding to the appeal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured that the cases would be reviewed and withdrawn at the earliest to provide relief to the affected individuals.

Notably, in 2018, approximately 100 cases were registered in Meerut alone, and around 43 in Muzaffarnagar, contributing significantly to the state-wide total of 263 cases. Following Anil Kumar’s meeting with the Chief Minister, there is renewed hope among the Dalit community for a resolution and an end to the legal troubles stemming from the 2018 movement.
