Lucknow: The Manaknagar Police have arrested two accused in connection with a violent incident in which a woman was allegedly stabbed and seriously injured, while a young man who attempted to intervene was also attacked and wounded.
According to police officials, a case was registered at Manaknagar Police Station on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case pertains to allegations of assault, criminal intimidation and causing grievous injuries.
Incident Details
Police said the incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on June 26, when the main accused, Vikas Yadav, allegedly stopped a woman from his village on the road, assaulted her and threatened her with dire consequences. During the altercation, he allegedly attacked the woman with a knife, causing serious injuries.
When a young man stepped in to protect the woman, the accused allegedly stabbed him in the chest, leaving him seriously injured.
Investigators said that the accused’s brother, Shivam Yadav alias Shiva Yadav, along with two other associates, was also present at the scene. They allegedly abused and threatened the victims before fleeing from the spot with the main accused.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the incident, a special police team was formed to investigate the case and apprehend those involved.
- Vikas Yadav, the principal accused, was arrested from Rae Bareli district on the night of June 27.
- Shivam Yadav alias Shiva Yadav was arrested on June 28 from Mehendikhera village in the Manaknagar area of Lucknow.
Police said efforts are continuing to trace and arrest the remaining accused who are currently absconding.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Vikas Yadav (29), resident of Mehendikhera, Manaknagar, Lucknow.
- Shivam Yadav alias Shiva Yadav (25), resident of Mehendikhera, Manaknagar, Lucknow.
Previous Criminal Cases
According to police records, both accused have previously been named in multiple criminal cases.
Vikas Yadav has been booked in earlier cases involving assault, criminal intimidation and related offences registered at Manaknagar Police Station.
Shivam Yadav alias Shiva Yadav has also been named in several cases, including charges related to criminal conspiracy, murder, arms offences and the Gangsters Act, apart from other criminal cases registered in Lucknow.
Police Team
The arrest of Vikas Yadav was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Tribhuvan Singh, Sub-Inspector Satyam Dwivedi, Sub-Inspector Ankit Kumar, Constable Pawan Kumar, and Constable Ramayan.
The team that arrested Shivam Yadav included Sub-Inspector Tribhuvan Singh, Sub-Inspector Vivek Anand Mishra, and Constable Vikas Kumar.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the case. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure a thorough investigation of the incident.
