Delhi Police Pays Tribute to Fallen Personnel on Police Commemoration Day at National Police Memorial

New Delhi: Delhi Police marked All India Police Commemoration Day at the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri, remembering the officers and personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty. Senior officers, serving personnel and families of the fallen came together for the occasion.

The day began early with a “Run for Martyrs,” which Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar flagged off from Nehru Park. Participants ran to the Memorial in solidarity with the bereaved families. On arrival, the Commissioner and other senior officers laid floral tributes to the martyrs.

Through the day, families of Delhi Police martyrs visited the Memorial along with serving personnel and paid their respects. They were felicitated in recognition of the sacrifices made by their loved ones. A specially prepared film on the bravery and gallantry of police personnel was screened at the Memorial Theatre, and the families toured the museum and offered homage at the Wall of Valour, which carries the names of personnel killed in the line of duty.

Special CP (Armed Police) Vijay Kumar also visited the Memorial with senior officers and laid a wreath, followed by other officers and their spouses. After another screening of a film on the force’s courage and sacrifice, the Delhi Police Brass Band and Pipe Band performed in honour of the fallen.

The programme closed with a Beating the Retreat ceremony and a final tribute at the Wall of Valour, reflecting the force’s lasting gratitude to its personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 in memory of police personnel who died on duty. After the main national ceremony at the Memorial, the Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations are each assigned a day between October 22 and 30 to hold their own events there. Delhi Police was assigned October 24 this year. Alongside the central event, districts and units across the force are holding their own programmes from October 22 to 30 to honour the martyrs and renew the force’s commitment to duty, courage and public service.
