Lucknow: A tree plantation and cultural programme was jointly organized by Ekagrata International Foundation and Bharatiya Yog Sansthan at Janeshwar Mishra Park on the occasion of World Environment Day and the birthday of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The event focused on promoting environmental conservation, yoga and healthy living.
The programme began with a plantation drive aimed at encouraging citizens to actively participate in environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives. Participants also took a pledge to contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more environmentally responsible society.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Awadhesh Dwivedi highlighted various yoga and wellness initiatives being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Government. He emphasized the growing importance of preventive healthcare and holistic wellness programmes in strengthening physical and mental well-being.
Welcoming the guests, Himanshu Pandey spoke about the significance of World Environment Day and highlighted the Foundation’s “Greener Lucknow, Green India” campaign. He called upon citizens to participate actively in tree plantation drives and environmental conservation efforts.
Renowned yoga expert Krishna Mishra of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan underlined the close relationship between yoga and environmental sustainability. He encouraged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and urged citizens to celebrate the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2026 with enthusiasm while contributing to environmental protection.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pratibha Singh stressed the need to reduce plastic consumption and adopt environmentally responsible practices. She said sustainable lifestyles and eco-conscious choices are essential for ensuring a healthier future for coming generations.
The cultural segment added colour and enthusiasm to the event. Young performer Pihu Dwivedi presented a captivating performance on the Yoga Anthem, receiving warm appreciation from the audience. Her presentation reflected the values of wellness, harmony and environmental awareness.
The programme received support from Max Hospital, Khushi Foundation, Shanti Shed, Yogdhara, Purushotam School of Yoga and Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti, whose collaboration contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Several distinguished guests, young volunteers and participants, including Vaishnavi, Shruti, Alankrita, Aoun, Aditya, Prateek, Shubh, Dev, Akash, Kushan and Shivangi, attended the programme. The event concluded with a collective commitment to environmental stewardship, wellness and community engagement, reinforcing the message of creating a greener and more sustainable India.
