Participants in the Girl Child Empowerment Campaign were made aware of self-protection.

Sonebhadra, Bijpur Police Station Head, Rajesh Kumar Singh, and his team, educated the girls participating in the Girl Child Empowerment Campaign-2026, being held at NTPC Rihand, by providing information about good touch, bad touch, cybercrime, and various legal aid services. Bijpur Police Station Head, Rajesh Kumar Singh, provided important information regarding the POCSO Act, 2012, children’s rights, cybersecurity, child protection, and gender sensitivity to the girls, and explained that the program’s purpose is to create awareness and empower girls about self-protection.

Female constable Niharika Pandey, in simple, easy, and child-friendly language, informed the girls about safe and unsafe touch. She explained to the girls that if any touch makes them uncomfortable, they should say no, move away, and immediately inform a parent or teacher. Ms. Pandey made the girls aware about good touch and bad touch in a simple and practical manner, so that they can identify any kind of inappropriate behavior, harassment or exploitation and can get help in time. During the session, information was also given about cyber crime, protection from child sexual abuse, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Marriage Prohibition Act, women safety laws and legal aid services available for children. The children were told that in case of any kind of violence, abuse or exploitation, they should inform their parents, teachers or trusted persons without any fear. In the program, the use of Child Helpline 1098, Women Helpline 181 and Police Helpline 112 and the process of getting help were also explained in detail.
