Shab-e-Barat: Lucknow Police Strengthens Security Arrangements

Lucknow: Lucknow Police Commissionerate has made stringent security arrangements for Shab-e-Barat:

  • Special police forces deployed across all five zones to maintain law and order.
  • Barricading and additional security measures implemented at 52 sensitive locations.
  • Traffic police instructed to ensure smooth diversions and crowd control.
  • Municipal Corporation directed to clean and repair cemeteries and religious sites.
  • Power department instructed to ensure uninterrupted supply and install additional lighting.

  • Police officials directed to conduct continuous patrolling and CCTV surveillance.
  • Deployment of 3 ADCPs, 14 ACPs, 74 Inspectors, and over 1,000 police personnel across the city.
  • Appeal to citizens to avoid rumors and cooperate with the police.

Comprehensive Security Measures The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has undertaken extensive measures to ensure peace and security during Shab-e-Barat. The festival, observed on the night of February 13, 2025, sees a large influx of people visiting cemeteries, shrines, Karbala, and Imambadas for prayers. In light of this, senior officials have reviewed security arrangements and issued crucial directives to ensure a peaceful observance of the festival.

Key Security and Administrative Arrangements Lucknow Police has identified 52 sensitive locations in the western zone where special surveillance and barricading will be enforced. Major sites like Aishbagh Cemetery, Karbala Talkatora, Jinnaton Wali Masjid, Rauza-e-Kazmain (Saadatganj), and Mehndi Ghat (Thakurganj) are expected to witness large gatherings.

Traffic and Crowd Management To manage the anticipated crowd and prevent traffic congestion, the traffic police have been given specific instructions. ADCP and ACP (Traffic) have been directed to implement diversion plans in case of road closures or increased footfall. Additionally, police pickets will be deployed at key junctions to ensure smooth movement.

Sanitation and Infrastructure Preparations The Municipal Corporation has been directed to clean cemeteries, shrines, and religious sites before the festival and ensure adequate lighting in these areas. Roads leading to significant sites, such as Aishbagh Eidgah, will be repaired, and potholes will be filled to facilitate hassle-free movement of devotees.

Uninterrupted Power Supply and Medical Facilities Since the festival is observed at night, the power department has been instructed to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply. Backup arrangements have also been put in place to prevent power outages. Additionally, ambulances will be stationed at major locations to provide immediate medical assistance in case of emergencies.

Security Deployment and Police Arrangements To prevent any untoward incidents, a strong police force will be deployed across the city. All police station in-charges have been instructed to conduct regular patrolling and inspect security arrangements. CCTV cameras at all sensitive locations will be monitored, and additional cameras will be installed if necessary. PRV-112, fire brigade, and civil defense teams have been put on high alert.

Special Deployment of Police Force Across Five Zones The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has implemented strict security measures across five zones: Central, East, West, North, and South. The deployment includes:

  • 3 Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police (ADCPs)
  • 14 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs)
  • 74 Inspectors
  • 491 Sub-Inspectors (SIs)
  • 446 Head Constables/Constables
  • 153 Female Constables Additionally, a substantial number of Home Guards and Civil Defense personnel have been deployed to ensure the festival’s peaceful and secure observance.

Appeal from Lucknow Police Commissionerate The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has urged citizens to refrain from spreading or believing in rumors and to report any suspicious activities immediately. Residents are advised to adhere to traffic regulations and cooperate with the administration to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Shab-e-Barat.
