Gonda: The Samajwadi Shikshak Sabha organised a Teachers’ Day celebration and “Shikshak Ratna Samman” ceremony at the Samajwadi Party office in Gonda on Saturday.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, state president Shyam Lal Pal and state president of the Shikshak Sabha, Dr S.P. Singh Patel. The event was presided over by Samajwadi Shikshak Sabha president Bipin Chand Verma, while Samajwadi Party Gonda district president Arshad Hussain was the chief guest.

The programme began with the garlanding of a portrait of former President and eminent educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Addressing the gathering, Arshad Hussain said the Samajwadi Party had consistently worked for the dignity, rights and welfare of teachers.
Bipin Chand Verma recalled the contributions of Dr Radhakrishnan and social reformer Savitribai Phule to the field of education. State secretary of the Shikshak Sabha, Mansharam Verma, said the organisation would work to take the ideas and educational vision of Dr Radhakrishnan and Savitribai Phule to people across society.
He said the Samajwadi Party would continue its efforts for the dignity of teachers and the right to education, adding that teachers’ problems would be addressed if the party formed the government.

As part of the ceremony, five educators who have made notable contributions to the field of education were presented with the Shikshak Ratna Samman. The awardees were former Physical Education Teacher Ram Nagina Yadav; Major Raja Ram, Principal of Kanhaiya Lal Inter College; Assistant Professor Shobhit Maurya of Lal Bahadur Shastri College; Alia Khanam of Madrasa Jamia Ahle Sunnat Hidayatul Islam; and Dr Awadhesh Kumar Verma of Maharaja Devi Baksh Singh Awadh Raj Singh College, Dumariyadih.
Several office-bearers and members of the Shikshak Sabha addressed the gathering, including state secretary Puneet Kanojia, Mohammad Shakeel, Radhe Shyam Sonkar, Ram Gopal Verma, Mani Ram Nishad, Khalik Ansari, Lal Chand Chaudhary, Rajiv Mishra, Rakesh Kumar Verma and Doodh Nath Verma.
The programme was conducted by Samajwadi Party spokesperson Javed Mantu. A large number of party office-bearers, workers and supporters attended the event, including Haji Zaki, District Trade Sabha president Devendra Singh, District Minority Cell president Afzal Khan, Youth Brigade district president Deepu Yadav, National Secretary of the Mazdoor Sabha Farhan Siddiqui, Somnath Tiwari, Shahid Khan, Sahab Ram Yadav, Sunil Kumar Yadav, Janak Raj Yadav, Dilip Yadav, Brijesh Yadav and Heera Lal Sagar.
The event concluded with appreciation for teachers and a renewed emphasis on their role in strengthening education and shaping society.
