Bareilly: A Peace Committee meeting was held at the Vikas Bhavan Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya to review preparations for maintaining law and order during the upcoming Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) festival.
During the meeting, a detailed police station and area-wise review was conducted to ensure that peace committee meetings had been completed across all regions and to assess whether any issues had arisen during previous celebrations. Community representatives particularly requested uninterrupted electricity and water supply during the festival.
The District Magistrate directed officials of municipal bodies, gram panchayats, and the Municipal Corporation to ensure proper sanitation arrangements and scientific disposal of sacrificial remains. Instructions were also issued to establish tehsil-level control rooms for better coordination and quick response.
Avinash Singh emphasized that all Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Circle Officers would be fully responsible for maintaining peace and law and order in their respective areas. He instructed officials to conduct peace committee meetings seriously and ensure communal harmony during the festival.
The Municipal Commissioner was directed to deploy sanitation workers effectively and form special teams that could immediately address complaints related to cleanliness and waste disposal.
Officials were instructed to ensure that sacrificial remains are transported in covered vehicles and buried in pre-dug deep pits using salt and bleaching powder to prevent animals and birds from scattering the remains. Directions were also given to keep pig shelters closed in advance.
To prevent water shortages, uninterrupted electricity supply was ordered so that overhead tanks remain filled and hand pumps function properly. Authorities also instructed that sacrifices should not be performed openly and that banned animals must not be sacrificed. Parents were urged to counsel children against recording or sharing videos of sacrifices on social media.

Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya stated that only traditional religious events would be permitted and no non-traditional programmes would be allowed without approval. He asked residents to confidentially inform authorities if there were any possibilities of banned animal sacrifice.
The SSP also instructed that no processions should be organized without prior permission and advised officials to remain alert regarding weather conditions, as intermittent rains could lead to waterlogging at Eidgahs and other public places. Authorities were also directed to remove bricks, stones, or other objects from rooftops as a precautionary measure.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found engaging in misconduct or indecent behaviour at public places such as Gandhi Udyan after the festival celebrations. Citizens were advised to contact emergency number 112 or the police control room at 0581-2990450 in case of any issue.
Several senior administrative and police officials, including Additional District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police officials, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Circle Officers, and Peace Committee members, attended the meeting.
