PANI Sansthan Observes World Environment Day, Promotes Sustainable Farming and Tree Plantation in Gonda

Gonda: Marking World Environment Day 2026, PANI Sansthan organized an awareness programme in Madanapur village of Mankapur block, Gonda district, focusing on environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture and water-saving farming practices.

The event brought together agricultural experts, progressive farmers and rural communities to discuss eco-friendly farming techniques and the importance of environmental stewardship.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. Ram Lakhan Singh highlighted the Government of India’s “Save the Fields” campaign being implemented during June. He encouraged farmers to adopt direct seeding of paddy, explaining that the method significantly reduces irrigation water consumption while eliminating the costs associated with raising nurseries and transplanting seedlings. He informed farmers that mid-June is the ideal period for direct paddy sowing and shared valuable information on weed management, soil testing, green manure cultivation, balanced fertilizer use, crop residue management and pigeon pea cultivation.

Special guest Yadunandan Verma urged farmers to actively participate in tree plantation drives and contribute to environmental conservation. Rajeev Mishra elaborated on direct paddy sowing, summer deep ploughing and integrated pest management practices, emphasizing their role in enhancing agricultural sustainability and resource conservation.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, field coordinators and community resource persons. Women farmers, including Savita, Sarita, Sunita, Birjana and Geeta, attended the event and received technical guidance on modern and environmentally responsible agricultural practices.

On the occasion, participants collectively pledged to plant and protect trees as part of their commitment to environmental preservation. The programme concluded with the plantation of Chitwan saplings and the presentation of ornamental plants to guests as a token of appreciation.

Organizers said the initiative aimed to strengthen awareness about the close link between sustainable agriculture, water conservation and environmental protection, while encouraging farmers to adopt practices that support both productivity and ecological balance.
